William George Groves
Mr. William “Bill” George Groves, age 75, of Gainesville passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness. A private family funeral is scheduled for the week-end of October 12 and 13, 2013. A memorial service will be scheduled for later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BULLI program at Brenau University.
Mr. Groves was born on June 6th 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late George and Esther Groves. He graduated from Indiana University in 1961 and spent 6 years in the air force as a Captain. In 1968, Bill received his Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of New Haven. He worked in Human Resources in private industry for many years before coming to academia. Bill retired as the director of Human Resources for Brenau University in 2006. He and his wife Donna were avid participants for many years in the BULLI program at Brenau University.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lela Ruth Groves Harrell, Indianapolis. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna Groves, Gainesville; son, Scott Groves, Wilmington N.C.; daughter-in-law, Frederica Groves, Wilmington N.C.; grandchildren, Nathan, Carson, and Jordan Groves, Wilmington N.C.; former daughter-in-law, Stacy Beard, Aragon GA; grandchildren, Skylar and Samara Groves, Aragon GA; son, Kevin Groves, Acra N.Y.; daughter-in-law, Mari Groves, Acra N.Y.; sister-in-law, Pat Fero, Seattle Washington; brother-in-law, Michael Fero, Seattle Washington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
