wayonda sirockman

April 22, 2015 ~ April 22, 2015

She was born on October 16, 1930, in Shinnston, West Virginia, to Ellsworth Bragg and Faye Ray Bragg and grew up on her family’s farm. During High School, her academic merit was recognized through her induction into the National Honor Society. Later, while majoring in English and History at West Virginia University, she met and married John Sirockman. During his work as an engineer, they would live in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Alberta, Quebec, North Carolina and Ohio. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in 2014.
Her first passion was raising her three children: Keith, Brett and Leslie. Her second passion was travel and she visited, with the exception of Antarctica, all of the continents, all 48 states, the Canadian provinces and Mexico. Family and friends enjoyed the results of her cooking skills and in Montreal she became a master of French cuisine. Ultimately, in 1973, she moved with the family to Georgia, and became the Chief Financial Officer for their privately owned businesses, retiring in 2001.
She was an avid bridge player and, as a member of the Atlanta Country Club, founded a three-table bridge group. Her church affiliation is Northwest Presbyterian, located in Atlanta. Surviving her, are her husband John and her two sons, Brett and Keith. Her daughter, Leslie, is deceased. Surviving her also are: her daughter-in-law, Maria Valenzuela, son-in-law Mark Cearley, seven grandchildren: Christina Sirockman, Christopher Sirockman, Matthew Sirockman, Sean Cearley, Sarah Cearley, Melanie Cope and Victoria Cope. The immediate family all live in Atlanta. Her brother, Russell Bragg, lives in Knoxville, TN with his wife, Evelyn; her other sisters-in-law, Joann Snider and Ruby Sirockman, live in Gainesville, FL, and Missoula, MT, respectively.
Wayonda’s loving eyes and smile, beautiful voice and her concern for her family, friends and others, made her a favorite of all.
A private family service is planned.
