Vinson Keith Ellenberg
Vinson Keith Ellenberg, 62, of Atlanta, passed away peacefully at home on May 9, 2021, surrounded by loving friends. Keith was born on November 8, 1958 in Burlington, North Carolina to Vinson and Lou (Moore) Ellenberg. He graduated from Eastern Alamance High School in 1975, and earned his degree in Industrial Relations from the University of North Carolina in 1980. Keith was a proud member of Chi Psi fraternity, and counted his fraternity brothers among his closest friends.
Keith’s personality was such that people easily gravitated to him. He brought people together from all over the city, state and world. He was a sweet, gentle soul, and at the same time possessed a quick wit and sharp sense of humor that kept everyone around him smiling and laughing.
Among Keith’s many interests were his award-winning koi. He served as the president of the Atlanta Koi Club in the 1990s and often served as a public speaker on the subject. He also was an avid gardener, supporter of the arts, and had a keen appreciation for art and antiquities.
Keith’s passion for Halloween was legendary. Over time, the decorations and staging at his home grew ever more elaborate. He enlisted many of his friends to make each event a success. Year after year, hundreds of kids and adults came from all over Atlanta to enjoy the experience.
Keith was predeceased by his father Vinson Ellenberg, his mother Lou Spitzner, and stepfather Al Spitzner. He is survived by his stepbrother Kurt Spitzner and stepsister Cari Wilkinson, as well as a large extended family and his beloved dogs, Akela and Loki, and cat Tobie. Keith is also survived by a tremendous circle of friends who loved him dearly, and are thankful to have had him as part of their lives.
A small, private memorial service will be held at his home on May 22, 2021. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.

I will miss Keith. A great friend with a passion for life and fun. Halloween will never be the same. You got so much joy in decorating and the hundreds of children who would marvel at your home. I will miss going to Cinebistro with you and Ty. We just talked a few weeks ago about going to a movie after we were fully vaccinated. I will miss your love of animals. You were always great with our dogs.
Scott
