Thomas Otin Sneed

Olin was the son of John Olin and Emma Jackson Sneed born on August 24, 1929 in McCayesville, Ga. After serving in the U.S Air Force during the Korean War, he advocated for thousands of working men and women as Secretary/Treasurer of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1996 in Atlanta, Ga. An avid hunter/outdoors-man, he was a member of the Buckeye Sportsman Club. He also was proud to be the troop leader of the St. John the Evangelist School Boy Scout Troop in Hapeville, Ga. for a number of years. He and his wife Alice were married in 1953 at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in downtown Atlanta and remain as active parishioners there. Olin was preceded in death by his parents, John Olin and Emma Jackson Sneed; brother Robert Alexander Sneed; sister Betty Sneed; son George Kevin Sneed; daughter Kathleen Mary Sneed; and grandaughter Jessica Ann Sneed. He is survived by his wife Alice Heffernan-Sneed; son Thomas Olin Sneed, Jr.; daughter Linda Sneed Benoit; son-in-law Mark Benoit; and grandson and adopted son Jason Matthew Sneed; grandaughters Leila Michelle and Lisa Jennifer Benoit; brother and sister-in-law Lamar and Glenda Sneed; sister-in-law Ann Sneed; nephews Robert and Shannon Sneed; sister-in-law Adela Heffernan Carter; brother-in-law Tom Carter; nephews Joel, Gary, Barry, Mark Newsom. The Funeral Mass will take place at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 353 Peachtree St.NE, Atlanta at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 19, 2016.
