Thomas David Hoard
Thomas David “Dave” Hoard, age 73, of Roswell, GA passed away peacefully Sunday, August 2nd. He was surrounded by his family. Dave was born December 28th, 1941 in Detroit, MI. After graduating from Creston High School in Grand Rapids he joined the US Army. In the Army, he met the love of his life, Linda. They dedicated themselves to his education, working through college and Medical School at Wayne State University. They lived in student housing, surviving on food stamps and part-time jobs with their young family. Dr. Hoard eventually established a successful practice as a surgeon in Boca Raton, FL. Dr. Hoard was an avid golfer, he was the club champion 3 years at St. Andrews CC. He also loved to snow ski, compete in rodeos, sports, meditation, and reading. He developed a lifetime of close friendships he cherished. Most of all, Dr. Hoard was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. He had a tremendous spirit, good humor, and a love for life. He always put his family first and provided them with a wonderful life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elwyn & Agnes Hoard. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda; their children Scott Kim, Steve Linda & Susan Roxy. He is also survived by his sister, Joan Bonner, and his brother, Jim Hoard. “Silly Grandpa” will also be dearly missed by his 7 grandchildren. The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, August 15th 2PM-4PM at Brookfield Country Club in Roswell, GA. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
I recall the love he had for his wife Linda and children, golf a close second. I was proud to be his office nurse for some 15yrs, he was kind and compassionate , outgoing and yet professional. Mary joined as a team nurse as he was SO VERY FAST, yet we managed to keep up. I appreciate Gayle tracking me down to let me know. My heartfelt sympathy extends to Linda and family. I commented Heaven received a really great person.
With much fondness, Diane Robbins-Yount
