Shirley Anne Vick
Shirley Anne Crawford was born on February 1, 1935 in the Buckhead community of Atlanta. She attended Garden Hills grammar school and graduated from North Fulton High School. Following courses at the Atlanta division of the University of Georgia, she became employed as a secretary at Coastal States Life Insurance Company. She met her future husband, Shirley Lee Vick, Jr., at Coastal States. Shirley drove Shirley Anne home from the office Christmas party and asked her for a first date: Midnight Mass at the Cathedral of Christ the King. They married August 7, 1954 at the Cathedral.
Shirley Anne spent the majority of her life in her much-loved Atlanta, but also enjoyed living in Anniston, New Orleans and Tampa.
She and Shirley Lee were able to travel extensively and enjoyed genealogy research together. They also treasured their home in the mountains of North Georgia. Shirley Anne was active in the Cherokee Nines ladies’ golf group, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century, and served as president of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Doctors Memorial Hospital. Her other interests included bridge, knitting, painting, gardening, needlepoint, and embroidery. Shirley Anne was an excellent and adventurous cook. She was of enormous assistance helping her husband Shirley found and form his firm, Prepaid Benefit Services, Inc. He always said he could never have made a success of the company without her participation.
She is survived by her three children, Lori Vick Millsap, Daniel Crawford Vick and Lisa, Amy Vick Green and Barry. She is also survived by her five grandchildren Nellie Millsap Thompson and Jonathan, Cullen Vick Millsap and Andi, Alexandra Calen Green, Maxwell Boyd Sevier Green, and Aidan Gunnar Vick.
