Sarah Edwards Kenan

Sara Edwards Kenan died at Belmont Village in Atlanta, Georgia on November 18, 2017.

Born on July 22, 1927 in Birmingham, Alabama, Sara was the daughter of the late Roy Lee Edwards and Sarah Bickley Edwards of Birmingham. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, George Edward Kenan.

Sara graduated from Auburn University in 1948. She met and married George in 1948 while they were students at Auburn. During their marriage, Sara and George lived in many different locations, including Atmore, Alabama; Greenwood, South Carolina; Kirkwood, Missouri; and Denville, New Jersey. Sara and George retired to Auburn, Alabama in 1986.

Sara was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Auburn and was active in the Altar Guild and Community Ministry. For many years, Sara was a volunteer with Hospice and a charter member of the Auburn University Association of Lifelong Learners (Olli).

Sara is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jane and Jim Olausen of Atlanta, Georgia; son Bob Kenan of Taos, New Mexico; granddaughter Caroline Olausen (John Buisson) of Kapaa, Hawaii; grandson Dan Olausen of Atlanta, Georgia; great-granddaughter Sara Thomas of Kapaa, Hawaii.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
