“BOB”
Robert Watson of Stone Mountain, GA passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 18 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was 81 years old.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty Lou Lawrence; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Dan Jones of Yardley, PA; daughter and son-in law Barbara and Steve Sander of Ft. Mitchell, KY; daughter Melissa J. Watson of Atlanta; and son Robert A. Watson, Jr. of Atlanta; as well as his loving grandchildren, Emily Jones Bausher, Daniel Jones, Jr., Steven Sander, Sarah Watson, Robert Sander, Samuel Jones and Riley Watson. Bob is survived by one brother, John D. Watson of PA.
Born in Yeadon, PA, Bob lived in Drexel Hill, PA, Wayland, MA and Charlotte, NC, as well as Norcross, GA. He graduated from Yeadon High School and The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Bob proudly served his country during the Korean War as Private First Class in the US Army.
Most recently Bob was a resident of the Park Springs Community in Stone Mountain, Ga. He was a volunteer at the Norcross Co-operative Ministry and a member of Peachtree Corners Presbyterian Church.
Despite the daily challenges of living with Alzheimer’s, , Bob worked hard to convey his delightful sense of humor in some way each day.
A service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on July 31, 2010 at 11:00 at Peachtree Corners Presbyterian Church in Norcross.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Alzheimer’s Association or the Norcross Cooperative Ministry would be greatly appreciated.
