Cox, Robert Ross “Bob”
Robert Ross Cox passed away peacefully on July 12, 2015 at home in Woodstock, GA surrounded by family.

Born September 21, 1942 in Hope, Arkansas, Bob lived his life to the fullest. He was a righteous man who loved the Lord first. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Bonita and his children and grandchildren: Allison, Dan, Lauren, Marilyn, Ryan and John Flynn; John Cox; Kimberly and Sherman Fullington, Ashley Beroth, Whitney Misja and Courtney Denham; eight great-grand children and brothers Van and David Cox. Son Mark David and parents Jennings and Jestine Cox preceeded him in death.

Bob retired from Bridgestone/Firestone after 30 years of dedicated service. Auditing was his passion in business. Bob served his country with distinction in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Sproston, including two tours in Viet Nam.

Blessed with wisdom, quick wit, and a keen perception for people and the world around him, Bob always wanted to know more and dig deeper. He enjoyed reading, especially The Bible, Christian-based books and anything about nature. The mountains were his respite from a too-busy world, as reflected in much of his poetry and photography. Retirement allowed him to relax and explore as he taught Bible studies and prepared devotions to share with those in assisted living. His journals and books are filled with depth of love for God, nature, missions and especially his family. Bob’s simple acts of kindness and faith have touched, encouraged and strengthened many.

Our thanks to the many medical professionals who crossed Bob’s path, and especially his favorite caregiver, Tracy, who understood him when most of the world could not.

A Memorial service will be conducted by Dr. Jim Hughes and Dr. Vin Walkup August 15th at 1:00 pm, at Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1250 Old Hickory Blvd., Brentwood, TN 37027. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be made to the mission closest to your heart or Forest Hills UMC Missions.
