Robert Carol Carver

Mr. Robert C. Carver, Sr. passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the age of 76. He was born on March 24, 1935 to parents Ransom and Rhoda Carver in Douglas, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Buddy, Donald, and Garland and sister, Lois Metts. He is survived by wife, Sharon Carver, son, Robbie Carver, daughter, Melissa Carver-Coleman, stepsons Joey, Tom, Greg and Derrick Unterwagner, sister, Eloise Ragsdale, several grand children and great grandchildren, and a large, extended and loving family who mourn his passing and miss him dearly.
An Atlanta resident since 1975, Robert founded, owned, and operated Carver’s Country Kitchen with Sharon where he became an icon of the Atlanta restaurant industry.
Memorial services are planned for Saturday, March 31st at 4:00 PM and will be held at the Georgia Tech Catholic Center located at 172 4th St. in Atlanta, GA. We invite all of his Carver’s Country Kitchen family to attend in a celebration of his life. A reception following the service will be held at the restaurant.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice in his honor. Donations can be mailed to The Office of Advancement, Visiting Nurse / Hospice Atlanta, 5775 Glenridge Dr., Suite E200, Atlanta, Ga. 30328.
On behalf of our family, Mary & Larry Cheshire, my brothers Tommy and Tarkenton Thompson, my sister in law Tracy Thompson and myself are so saddened to hear of Roberts passing. He was the “Ambassador of Carvers Kitchen” always a smile on face and always a warm greeting. He will be missed in the hearts of 100’s and 100’s people that he added, a bit of nostalgia, incredible southern food to their bellies and memory books. The Carver family is in our thoughts and prayers.
