Richard Walter O’Brien I, 82, died Tuesday 6/21/2011 at the Tranquility Hospice in Austell, GA after a long battle with prostate cancer.
Rich was a devoted husband, involved father, interested grandfather, loyal brother, true friend, proud Marine, successful entrepreneur, competitive athlete, dedicated coach, entertaining speaker and compelling author.
Married 58 years to his one love, Fannie Galloway O’Brien, Rich was the proud father of five sons and one daughter. Fan and Rich raised their family in the Radnor, PA area, finally leaving the homestead on Glenmary Lane after 35 years to retire in sunny Sarasota, Florida. He and Fan were blessed with 17 grandchildren whom he enjoyed teaching interesting mind games, songs and having them visit their beautiful home in Florida. They recently moved to Marietta, GA to be closer to family.
Rich is survived by his wife, Fannie Galloway O’Brien, sister Rita Sylvester, sons Knute, Rick Barb, Greg Diana, Phil Irina, Mark Lynne and daughter Heidi Craig, 17 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass is scheduled for 3:00 pm., Thursday, June 30, at St. Katharine of Siena, 104 S. Aberdeen Avenue, Wayne, PA and will be followed by a life celebration at the Great American Pub in Conshohocken, PA
