Randy was a very special man. I can’t think of a time that we did not have a great time together. The hardest I ever saw him laugh was at a Cub Scout Training Conference at Sea Base while taking a course on how to have better Roundtables. You could heard his laughter all over the camp as he threw himself into learning and sharing with all of his heart. I remember him showing his Eagle card signed by John Glenn and how proud he was to be an Eagle and how he wanted to give every Scout a chance to earn that achievement. Randy ws also a collector of Scouting memorabilia and we had a blast searching for the “Old Scouting Stuff” and sharing it with each other. He often presented vintage Scouting things to new Eagle Scouts as treasured gifts. I feel very blessed to know Randy and call him one of my dearest friends. The Besley Family is always in my heart and I will miss Randy always until we meet again on the Scouting Trail. Love, The John P Vajanyi Jr. Family
I remember on many-a campouts sitting around the fire talking planes with Mr. Besley. It is because of him, in no small part that I have the profound love for aviation that I do today, and this love has carried me to my dream career and points beyond. He not only fostered that love in me, he also encouraged it on so many different levels. My only regret is not keeping in touch with him as he moved away. I never had a chane to thank him for everything he has done for me. My condolences to the Besley friends and family and a big THANK YOU to Mr. Randy Besley.
Randy was a very special person. We had great times together in Scouts, and he always made me laugh. Thanks to him, I became involved in scouting at the district and council levels, positions I still hold today. And thanks to him, my son became an air traffic controller and is now living and working in St. Thomas. He still has the aviation books and the propeller Randy gave him. Randy, you are missed.
To Cindy and the boys: Please accept my sincere condolences.
