Rachel Leslie Thorn
Rachel Leslie Thorn, age 37, died Sunday, February 21st, succumbing to injuries sustained in a fire.
Miss Thorn was born in Fairfax, Virginia to Elizabeth Jackson Gill and Alan Thorn on December 7th, 1978. She moved to Atlanta with her family in 1980 and stayed within the city ever since.
Rachel had worked for many years as a recruiter and was currently serving as US Talent Acquisition with Morneau Shepell in Atlanta, GA.
Rachel was a lover of life. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, traveling whenever she could. In recent years she had been to the Kentucky Derby, Indianapolis 500, Yellowstone National Park, Art Basel in Miami, Austin, Barbados, Key West, New York, and Chicago. She also took a yearly mother-daughter trip with her family and long-time friends, this year to Turks and Cacaos Island. Rachel loved spending time at her family lake house, The Ramblin’ Wreck, on Lake Burton.
Rachel was an artist with an eclectic eye, and a lover of angry chick music. Rachel had recently adopted a dog, Bunny Erica Thorn, from the Atlanta Humane Society who, unfortunately, also perished in the fire.
Miss Thorn is survived by her parents, Elizabeth and Geoffrey Gill of Atlanta, GA; father, Alan Thorn of Atlanta, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law Erica and Michael Neisse and Nancy and Adam Berger, all of Dunwoody, GA; brother and sister-in-law Curt and Wendy Gill of Atlanta, GA; four nieces and nephews, Erin and Anna Berger and Jack and Charlie Gill; and her boyfriend, Gene Reese of Chicago, IL. As well as many beloved uncles, aunts and cousins.
The celebration of Rachel’s life will be held at The Estate in Buckhead 3109 Piedmont Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30305 on Saturday, February 27th at 11:00 AM. The family requests we celebrate Rachel life and not morn her passing, please no black.

You only need meet her once to know you will never forget her smile!
Rachel will be remembered by Lori and me, with the beautiful backdrop of Lake Burton, her smile, and the joy she brought to all that visited ‘The Ramblin Wreck’.
