Philipps Joseph Hook passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 12, 2018 following a brief illness.

He leaves his wife of 47 years, Maryl (McKinley) Hook; his daughter Shannon (Hook) Seyfried; son-in-law Nick Seyfried; 3 grandchildren (he was their beloved “BoBo”); his sister Susan (Hook) Boyd; sisters-in-law Gail Donovan (the late Paul), Jane Gardner (Lee), Kyle Esh (Mike), brother-in-law Rick McKinley (Nancy); and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Thomas F. Hook & Helen (Kling) Hook of Dayton, Ohio; and a brother Thomas Kling Hook.

Mr. Hook received a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Dayton before earning an MBA at the University of Pittsburgh and starting a long career in venture capital. In college and throughout his life, he was an avid golfer and, in later years, he had much success as a duplicate bridge player. Mr. Hook was a long-time parishioner at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Buckhead.

Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Catholic Charities USA.
