Peggie J. Marinos

Peggie Stanley Marinos of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on May 1, 2017. She was married to Andrew A. Marinos and they had 65 wonderful years together. She graduated from West Fulton High School and went to work at Joseph M. Harrell Insurance Agency until it was sold, and continued working part-time for Joseph Harrell Jr. until she retired in 2009. Peggie was an avid golfer and played at the Lakeside Country Club with the North Fulton Women’s Golf Association, where she held many leadership positions over the years.
Bird watching kept her eyes on the lookout for birds anywhere she went. This hobby took her and Andy on many trips to foreign countries, and for several seasons, Andy made blue bird houses that they hung on golf courses and other wide spaces. She continued her delight in birds when she moved to St. Anne’s Terrace by taking on the responsibility of making sure that the bird feeders there were kept full. Peggie’s sewing talents were varied and principally expressed in beautiful quilts. She was a member of the Bulloch Hall Quilt Guild. One of her quilts was featured in the Atlanta Olympic Games, which included a quilt for each country. Her quilt went to Estonia, and a picture of it was included in the Olympic calendar. Many of her friends and relatives received gifts from her talented hands through the years, and those who visited her home were enthralled by the beautiful handwork that adorned her walls. She was a life-time gardener and a member of the Jonquil Garden Club. Her Rebel Trail Garden was on the Native Plant Tour one year. When she and Andy moved to a smaller home a few years ago, once again, Peggie created beauty in her new gardens and flower trails.
Peggie also was mindful of the stewardship of her God-given gifts, as she participated in the Flower Guild at St. Anne’s, and as she stitched many linen bags for those who wished to have their ashes interred therein.
Peggie is survived by her brother Jon O. Stanley, sister-in-law Virginia Stanley, three nieces and one nephew. Peggie was a long-time member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anne’s Church, 3098 Saint Anne’s Lane NW, Atlanta, GA 30327 or a charity of your choice. A thanksgiving for the life of Peggie Marinos will be held at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church on May 13 at 11:00 a.m.
