Resided in: Marietta, GA

It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Patricia (Pat), 88, of Marietta, GA announces her sudden passing on Friday, December 18, 2020 in Austell, GA. A Celebration of Life service for the family will be held later in 2021, Smyrna, GA and Los Osos, California, TBD.

Mrs. Kaufman was born August 5,1932 in Cleveland Ohio to the late Lawrence Donovan and the late Helen Donovan. She spent most of her life in Cleveland, Ohio and later moved to Escondido and Los Osos, California. For the last 15 years Pat lived in Smyrna, Georgia.

Pat had an unusual childhood as she was raised in 14 foster homes until the age of 16, and then lived at Catherine Horstmann boarding school for high school age young women, until she married at the age of 21. It seems this start led Pat’s desire to help others who struggled with adjustments in life. Being a person of strong faith, Pat was a ‘live and enjoy each day’ person who loved the Lord. Faithfully, through daily devotions, and inspirational messages shared words of comfort and hope to others. People naturally gravitated to Pat due to her uplifting, compassionate spirit, and willingness to listen.

Besides her strong faith, Pat had a love of the sun, roses, ballroom dancing, music, the theatre, and costume design. She had a passion for making costumes for volunteer performances and clothes for herself and others. Pat loved to plan fundraiser events, creative activities as well as Bible Studies, outings, and movie nights for her fellow residences at Mt. Vernon and later at Cadence Senior residences.

Ms. Kaufman was predeceased in death by her husbands, Robert Rourke Sr., Jack Kaufman, and Carl Jardine. She is survived by her children Robert Rourke Jr. (Jennifer), Kevin Rourke, Michael Rourke and daughter, Kelly Fisher (Bill); five grandchildren, Andrew Rourke, Aaron Rourke, Tim Rourke, Loren Fisher Morabito, Ashley Fisher, great grandson Fisher Morabito and her ‘adopted grandson’ Adam Pack along with a host of other dear relatives and friends. Remembrances in the name of Patricia Kaufman can be sent to the Methodist Children’s Home (MCH.org).
