Pamela Margaret Morris, nee Arkinstall, of Atlanta, GA, died Friday, February 27, 2015 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 74 years old. Pamela is survived by her husband, Peter Stanley James Morris, of Atlanta, GA, her daughter and son-in-law, Joanna and Miles Hurley of Atlanta, GA, daughter Louise Elizabeth Morris of Atlanta, GA and grandsons Peter Hurley, Graham Hurley and Julian Hurley.

Pamela was born on April 19, 1940 just outside of London, UK during the early days of WWII. She spent the war years in the north of England. Her childhood years were spent in Richmond, UK where she attended the Sir Godfrey Kneller Academy for Young Ladies. After completing school she attended the London School of Fashion. She married Peter Stanley James Morris on July 2, 1960 at St Augustine’s Church. Her daughter Joanna Margaret was born in 1962 and her daughter Louise Elizabeth in 1969.

Pamela and her husband moved to the United States in the late 1960s where Peter pursued his career in Optics. They lived in Washington, D.C., metro New York City and in 1974 moved to Atlanta, Georgia.

Pamela was an accomplished hairdresser and as her children grew began a successful career as a travel agent and event planner. Pamela and Peter travelled extensively during those years and she shared her experiences with her clients.

Pamela was a committed volunteer. She was a past State President of the Daughters of the British Empire, a member of the British American Business Group, the English Speaking Union and an avid follower of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

Her family wishes to recognize with joy her beloved caregiver, Dorothy Ponder. She provided over 30 years of support and friendship to Pamela and her family; we are forever in her debt.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on March 18, 2015 at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, 3098 St. Anne’s Lane, Atlanta, GA 30327 with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association of Georgia.
