Noah Byrd, a true “Renaissance man”, joined his Father in Heaven on Sep 9, 2021. He was born to Mamie Ruth Carver Byrd and Berry H. Byrd in 1938, Wray, Georgia in his grandmother Abbie’s farmhouse. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 42 years, Lynne Barfield Patrick Byrd, a daughter, Deborah Ann Butler, two step-sons, Dixon Patrick (Zelda) and David Mc Mains Patrick, Grandchildren Sarah Crawford, Samantha Patrick, Brenda Patrick, Marlee Butler, sister-in-laws Colleen Barfield, Doris Byrd. Also surviving him are, Great grandchildren Bailee Crawford. He is also survived by his first wife, Barbara Farmer (Bob), who is truly apart of his extended family. This unique arrangement was a great blessing to everyone.

After graduating from Baltimore City College, Noah served in the Air Force from 1956 to 1964 as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist at Sandia Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the base in Flixstowe England and In Duluth, Minnesota. He moved to Atlanta in 1966, pursuing many different occupations and settled on a long and successful career in real estate with his wife Lynne at Byrd Realty.

Noah was well known by his friends as being able to fix, repair or build almost anything. His joy in life was helping others. He loved to be called on to serve, “Wherever is needed.” These abilities were accompanied by a humble sweet spirit. He never wanted to be in the spotlight, instead enjoying supporting others. Noah was a long time member of Dunwoody United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir with Lynne and friends, and participated in many church events, such as concerts, Habitat for Humanity, Great Day of Service and the Holiday Festival. He loved Jesus Christ with his whole heart, having accepted him in 1992 while on his Walk to Emmaus. During his life, he and Lynne sponsored more than 50 pilgrims on their Walk to Emmaus.

A memorial service will be held at Dunwoody United Methodist Church on 2 Oct 2021. The service will be at 10:00am followed by a visitation in the parlor. The church is located at 1548 Mt. Vernon Road, Dunwoody, Georgia 30338. Phone:770-395-0675. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the DUMC Chancel Choir.
