Nancy Sellers
Nancy Sellers died at Fountainview Center March 2 after a ten year struggle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born in East Aurora, N.Y. September 16, 1926. She grew up there and in Highland Park, IL. Her family moved to Atlanta in 1946, where she met and married Thomas Sellers Tom, M.D. She and he shared 63 wonderful married years together. She was a highly skilled amateur painter with oils and watercolor. She loved young children and was a kindergarten teacher many years. In 1968 she recognized the need for kindergarten experiences for underprivileged children whose parents could not afford tuition, so she started a free kindergarten for these children in her basement. Soon enrollment exceeded the capacity of the basement, so she was able to transplant her project to the sponsorship of the Peachtree Presbyterian Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Wade, Rick Sonja and Janet Stephenson Gordon, nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, as well as two sisters, Bette Hansen and Gloria Link of Atlanta. The body was cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 17 at 11 A.M. in the sanctuary at Peachtree Presbyterian Church, 3434 Roswell Rd. Atlanta 30305. The family will meet friends afterwards in the Williams Center at the church.
The staff at the Bartow County Health Department would like to express our heart felt condolences to the family of Mrs. Nancy Sellers. It is obvious that Mrs. Sellers had a love for children and her family and she will be greatly rewarded with many jewels in her crown.
I had the opportunity to have lunch with Mrs. Sellers about 11 years ago, she was a woman that I greatly admired. I feel fortunate to have met her.
Hazel and I send you our profound condolences.

Dear Uncle Tommy, Wade, Rick, Janet, and the rest of Aunt Nancy’s family. I pray each of you receive the comfort from God through his Son Jesus Christ that each of you may need in different ways in the days and weeks to come. I know that we all have an empty place in out hearts with Aunt Nancy’s death. I have a mind full of wonderful memories MY AUNT NANCY had a part in making. She was one of the people I loved that seemed perfect, “a hiding place in a storm”. She was the first Aunt I wanted my girlfriend Carol to meet. She suffered with a horrible illness, she suffers no more. For that I know we are all greatful.
I wish I could come to the memorial, but I just don’t think my health will allow the trip.
I hope that in the future, we cousins can regain some lost time.
My Love To All
Michael
