Resided in: Atlanta, GA

Atlanta’s own Nancy Erickson, known as Mrs. Ashford Dunwoody by all the Atlantans she entertained for over 50 years, took her final bow on Friday, December 14th surrounded by her family. Nancy and her late husband Phil arrived in Atlanta in 1949 . Phil and his partner Dick Van Dyke had a television show on WSB-TV in the early 1950s. Nancy and Phil then opened Atlanta’s first cabaret dinner theatre in 1955 called Wits’ End. Nancy and Phil created the Wits’ End Players who entertained Atlanta with original comedy for 35 years. The Wits’ End Players were honored by Mayor Maynard Jackson with a “Wits’ End Day” and by Governor Jimmy Carter with a proclamation to “commend the Wits’ End Players for their contributions to our State and nation, bringing wisdom and laughter to our communities.” She will be remembered with love and laughter by her 4 children, Steve, Kristin, Shari and Jamey, her 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Nancy and Phil’s legacy of humor, satire and creativity continue on through the works of her 2 sons in their company, Wits’ End Productions. A private memorial service for family members will be held at Arlington Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Georgia Ensemble Theatre, 950 Forrest Street, Roswell, GA 30075.
We applaud your final bow… Mrs. Ashford Dunwoody… We Love You!

  1. Lynette Camacho Croy says:

Please accept my sincerest sympathies on the loss of your beloved Mother. The connections to your parents go back further than even Jamey and I being very good high school friends. My father was a local entertainer before I was even born and a co-hort with Dick Van Dyke and Sid Ceaser which led him to become acquainted with your parents. I had the opportunity to enjoy several outings to the Wits End club with Jamey along with the occasional visit from either one of your parents making an appearance with a skit at Ridgeview! My prayers are that each of you are filled with the memories of a well lived life and that each of their legacies will continue on within YOU! God Bless
