Michael Joseph Purdy

Michael Joseph Purdy passed away peacefully at home on February 27, 2024, at age 63. He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Wilson Purdy, and his brother Patrick Wilson Purdy. His father, Joseph Newton Purdy, passed away shortly after Michael. He is survived by brothers Dan (Sandy) and Tim (Patty), and sister-in-law Amy (Patrick), as well as four nieces and nephews and two grand nephews. Michael was a 7-year cancer survivor. He was born in Covington KY, moved a few times and lived in Georgia from age seven on. He was a Mechanical Engineering graduate of Southern Polytechnic State University and traveled widely in his career, first for Manufacturers Hanover Insurance, then for 29 years for Tinius Olsen Testing Machine Company. After he retired from Tinius Olsen Michael was proud to be a Saturday regular serving pulled pork and brisket with his friends at the Iron Pig, in Jefferson GA. Michael loved BBQ, cars (old/new/fast or funky), motorcycles, good books, and his quiet spot in the country.
