Maureen Louise Witt Filo Carlon of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio passed away peacefully on September 8, 2022, with her daughter Rosemary at her side. Maureen was born April 3, 1935, in Youngstown, the daughter of Alvy and Lillian Keffer Witt. She was a 1953 graduate of Ursuline High School.

On November 9, 1953, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Edward F. Filo, with whom she had four children. Edward passed away August 2, 1956. She then married John P. Carlon, with whom she had three more children.

Maureen was the office manager for an international software company, based in Atlanta for many years until her retirement in 2005. She enjoyed traveling with her sisters and her family, listening to classical music, flower arranging and had a fascination with kaleidoscopes.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Eugene (Dagmar) Carlon of Colorado Springs, CO., Edward (Nancy) Carlon of Poland, OH., Rosemary Carlon Beck of Atlanta, GA., Philip (Barb) Carlon of Boardman, OH., Patrick (Jean) Carlon of Kent, WA., Eileen Carlon Richardson of Atlanta, GA., John (Mary) Carlon of Perry, OH., and thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and her sisters, Mary Catherine Sanders of Liberty, OH., and Gloria (Boyd) Titus of Vancouver, WA.

She was predeceased by her parents, a brother Robert W. Witt, a sister Alva May Witt, her first husband Edward F. Filo and her second husband John P. Carlon.

A memorial service and celebration of life will take place in Youngstown at a later date.

    The Family has my deepest and heart filled condolences. I was Ms. Carlin’s. Care giver and I loved her as she was my own. I’m glad I got the opportunity to meet such a jewel. She changed my life.

    Mrs. Carlon will always be apart of my heart..I spent many days talking with her she always gave me great advice..I was one of her caregivers but she always felt like much more to me..My condolences to her family she’s in nomore pain..Love you Mrs.Carlon I can hear her tell me I LOVVEE YOU TOOOO 😢❤️

    My deepest sympathies to the whole family. Maureen was a wonderful friend and like a second mother to me. Especially for letting me stay with her as I moved to Atlanta. She was a special person and I’ll miss her. May she rest in peace.

      Mom and I first met so many years ago when she opened the door to her car and gave me a ride as I was walking from school. Over the subsequent 50+ years she embraced and loved me as a son. I am forever thankful and know that I have been BLESSED by her graciousness and love 🙏 “I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU MOM” ❤️
