Llylen Burke Linder, 91, died of cancer on April 21, 2015. Born on February 13, 1924 in Dublin, GA to the late Glenn Marcus Linder and Annie Mae Graham Linder, he spent his school years in Athens, GA, graduating from high school there. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Philippine Islands during World War II and then came to Atlanta where he worked for 40 years with Southern Bell Telephone Company. Known for his meticulous work and vast knowledge of all aspects of the Bell system, he became the “man to go to” for help. Burke was an active member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Decatur. He is survived by his wife, Carol Elizabeth Hills Linder, children Marcus Burke Linder Jean Weaver, Marjorie Ellisea Robbins Dan Robbins, James David Linder Sandra Gallentine, Jennifer Ruth Morris, Jonathan Blake Morris, seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Decatur, GA with Dr. Glenn Ethridge officiating. The family will receive guests following the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial gifts may be given to the Oak Grove United Methodist Church building fund.

    I am so sorry about the loss of Burke. I worked with him at BellSouth in the 1980’s and 1990’s. He was a wonderful, knowledgeable man. Please accept my sincere sympathy.
