Born in: Atlanta, GA
Resided in: Atlanta, GA

Linda Ann Barton, 65, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on July 14, 2017 in the care of Hospice Atlanta surrounded by loved ones following a long period of declining health. For the past 15 years, Linda resided at Sunrise Brighton Gardens due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Linda was well known by the residents and staff for her friendly nature. She embraced everyone, loving without hesitation, and in turn was loved by all. Engaging in thoughtful conversation was her pleasure and it often included a short prayer of comfort to lift the spirit of others. She spoke boldly of her love of Jesus Christ, and her kind, cheerful words were a constant throughout life.
Linda graduated from the Westminster Schools and attended SMU in Dallas, Texas, where she excelled in verbal and writing skills. Along with her family, she traveled the world over, visiting Europe, Japan, Thailand, Alaska, and other destinations. She particular favored Amboise, France, living there 3 months studying the culture and learning to speak the language fluently. Afterwards she worked several years in New York City for an investment brokerage company, all the while immersing herself in the Big Apple societal life. Eventually she decided to return home to work and be close with her family. Linda enjoyed playing the acoustical guitar and had a natural talent for portrait oil painting and creating figurines from molded clay. She loved all animals especially her pet cats who surely sensed Linda’s heart of gold.
However Linda’s young life took an unfortunate turn when a careless driver crossed her path that landed her in intensive care for 3 months clinging for survival. Sadly she never regained her health struggling daily to manage the pain from injuries due to the accident.
Linda was exceedingly blessed to have loving and supportive parents. She is survived by her mother, Eleanor A. Barton, sister, Wendy Lee Barton, and niece Eleanor Caroline Benson. Her father is the late Charles Coggins Barton. A special thank you is extended to Linda’s caregiver for over 15 years, Mrs. Jennifer Pate, whose loving presence and devotion greatly enhanced her life. Also the family is grateful to the members of the Brighton Gardens staff who throughout the years created a quality environment for Linda to call home. A prayer service is to be held at Brighton Gardens of Buckhead at 3088 Lenox Road on Saturday, July 29th at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Hospice Atlanta, the Atlanta Humane Society or your favorite charity.

  1. Natalie says:

“And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing.” (1 Corinthians 15:26) I cannot imagine the pain that your family is going through right now. God promises that he will soon wipe away and reverse the effects of this enemy that causes so much pain. Your precious Linda will be brought back to you and you will never have to experience the pain of losing her ever again. She will no longer be in any pain when she wakes up. This is a promise from God! (Isaiah 33:24; Isaiah 25:8; Revelation 21:4,5)
