Laleah – a singular name for a most superior individual. From Atlanta to Cashiers – from Savannah to Sea Island – someone would always know Laleah Furniss. For so many years, Laleah held forth at the Meltaway table – and at all tables and in all quarters – with the most erudite repartee and acute verbal deconstruction of unfortunate incidents and individuals. Though I have always failed miserably in my attempt to match her skills, I am so tickled to recall a great number of Laleahisms of which I will keep to myself, thank you!. and I’m sure many of you can as well.
I simply can’t say more about her incomparable wit and wisdom – absolutely no one could turn a phrase, tell a tale or offer an observation with more aplomb. It was a privilege, joy and education to have Laleah in my life. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jim and Laleah,their families and her most wonderful friends everywhere.
