Kenneth Brett Choate

Kenneth Brett Choate, 65, of Tucker, GA, passed away on January 26, 2023, having bravely faced declining health for the past several years.

Ken was born on December 4, 1957, in Chattanooga, TN to his loving parents Bill and Helen (Harris) Choate. Ken grew up in Atlanta, GA and attended Druid Hills High School. He served as a member of the United States Naval Reserves. Ken enjoyed a lengthy career as a skilled computer networking specialist, retiring from employment with DeKalb County, GA.

Ken had a great love of the outdoors. Over the years, he often could be found backpacking, sailing, or skiing. In his later years, Ken took up sporting clays and would occasionally compete locally. Ken was known to appreciate a good sound system — in his younger days it was often said that the sound system in his car was worth more than the car itself. He was known for great barbecue and liked nothing better than grilling with family and friends!

Ken was preceded in death by his father, Bill F. Choate, and is survived by his mother, Mary Helen Harris Choate of Atlanta, GA, as well as his siblings Julia (Jeffrey) Martinroe of Atlanta, GA, and Bill (Lilabet) Choate of Decatur, GA, niece Mimi Choate (James Hetland) and children of Ashland, OR, and nephew Nick Choate (Evelyn Sedlack) of
Atlanta, GA.
