Resided in: Roswell, Georgia

Kathy Ellise Musselman, 73, of Roswell, GA passed away on February 9, 2024. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home surrounded by her husband and children.

Kathy – or Cricket, as she was known to friends and family was born the oldest of four children to Patsy and Dwayne Hale in New Albany, Mississippi. After graduating from MacArthur High School in Hollywood FL, Kathy pursued a degree in Special Education at Florida State University. During that time, Kathy met the love of her life, Dennis Musselman, and they were inseparable for the next fifty-three years. After graduating from FSU, the two of them left Tallahassee and moved to Georgia to start their careers. While Denny embarked on his new business ownership, Kathy continued her education by obtaining her Master’s degree in Interrelated Special Education at GA State.

Ultimately, they ended up planting their roots in East Cobb, and Kathy dedicated the rest of her life to her family, friends, and students. She taught all thirty-one years in Cobb County, leaving her mark at Nash (now known as Campbell), Sedalia Park, Dodgen, and finally retiring from Dickerson in 2008. Not only did Kathy leave a lasting impression on her students and co-workers, but she was also an inspiration to her daughter, Amy, who followed in her footsteps and became a CCSD special education teacher as well. Their love for teaching and passion for students with disabilities bonded them forever.

Kathy was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She treasured her children and embraced every moment she had with them and her grandsons. Since her son, Adam, spent the last several years helping Denny take care of her, their relationship was very special. Adam’s unique ability to make her laugh is something we will always cherish and remember.

Kathy was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She will forever be remembered for her kind heart, gentle soul, sweet smile, and her love for reading. The hole left by her absence will be impossible to fill, but the memories of her will last a lifetime.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband Denny, son Adam, daughter Amy (Matt) Howell, her grandsons, Parker (13) and Jordan (3), her brother Dwayne (Gail) Hale Jr. of Melbourne Beach, FL, her sister Cindy (Shawn) Erickson, and brother Ricky Hale both of Fairhope, AL.

A private celebration of life will be held in Fairhope, AL at a later date. Her family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to MUST Ministries in Kathy’s name.
