John Boswell Loweb
JOHN LOWEB, RETIRED APPEALS ATTORNEY, DIES AT 85 FROM COVID-19
John Loweb: Born in New Orleans (March 23, 1935 – January 20, 2021) the son of well-known New Orleans attorney Stanley Loëb and great nephew of Gordon Boswell of the firm Boswell, Loëb & Livaudais, John changed the spelling of his name in 1965 after years of frustration with people who did not recognize a tréma when they saw one. After serving 3 years in the Army, he received his law degree from Tulane University. He did a stint clerking followed by a life-long career as an appeals attorney. His briefs were known for simple language with a sharp tongue and wit; a thorn in the side of many. John had high ethics and strong opinions; some thought to a fault. If you were a friend you were his friend for life. John leaves a brother, Stanley Earnest Loëb, Jr. of New York City and a sister, Suzanne Loëb Siegel of Atlanta. Burial will take place on February 11 at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia with full military honors.
