John Beaumont Holland
Beau Holland
1963—2016
Beau Holland of Beau Studio at ADAC died Saturday, June 11, 2016. He was 52 years young. Beau was diagnosed in mid-January with metastatic melanoma, and despite aggressive treatment and some hopeful signs, he died peacefully six months later and after less than 24 hours in hospice.
John Beaumont “Beau” Holland was born at Piedmont Hospital on November 15, 1963 to H. Leslie Holland III and the late Margaret “Bootsie” Allen Holland. He graduated from the Marist School in 1981 and from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1986.
Beau grew up working at Holland & Co., the family business at the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center, where he developed an eye for fine furnishings. With the exception of a few years in the wine business, Beau spent his adult life serving the Atlanta interior design trade scouring England, France, Italy and Belgium for unique pieces to fill his showroom at ADAC. Beau was a longtime member and served on the board of EO/Atlanta, a local chapter of a global organization The Entrepreneurs’ Organization where he formed many close and enduring friendships. He also participated in many Mankind Project challenges.
Beau was known to be a caring friend with a bright grin, an occasional sly smile and a kind disposition—a gentleman and a smartass who engaged all and offended none. He was full of fun and surprises, and was happiest spending time with friends and family, particularly his fiancé and three children. His passions included anything out of doors, whether sunny weekends at Lake Yonah in North Georgia, East Coast Florida beaches or long motorcycle rides through anything mountainous.
Beau is survived by his children—Beaumont, Maggie and Brantley Holland—his father Leslie Holland and his brother Harry and wife Debbie of Moab, Utah. His devoted and beloved best friend and fiancé Cristina Cooper also survives him. He is also survived by loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. To honor Beau’s creativity and career, Cristina and Leslie will keep Beau Studio open and thriving at ADAC.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Melinda Yushak and her team at the Emory Winship Cancer Institute for the outstanding treatment and care given to Beau and to the ADAC community for their support and prayers during the last several months. A graveside burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 17 at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, 30328. A celebration of Beau’s life will follow the service at the home of Leslie Holland at 210 Enclave Cir. 30342. In addition, in honor of Beau’s zest for life, a celebration will be held at the home of his fiancée and his children starting after 4 p.m. at 2824 Shady Valley Dr. NE, 30324. Anyone touched by Beau’s light is welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to the Melanoma Research Foundation www.melanoma.org.
