Jerry Olin Garner

Jerry Olin Garner, 71, passed away on May 16, 2017 at his residence in Griffin.
Jerry was born in Atlanta on Aug. 29, 1945 to Thelma Lucille (Baker) and James Olin Garner, and was the youngest of two children. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
Jerry graduated from Headland High School in 1963, and went on to attend Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He then enlisted in the Army and was in service to the United States from 1965 to 1969 when he was honorably discharged. He also received a medal for “Good Contact” in 1968. In 1969, Jerry went to work with Delta Airlines, and retired in 2001 after enjoying 31 years of loyal service.
Jerry was a sweet, loving, intelligent father, husband, grandfather, and great- grand-father.
He is survived by his only daughter, Kimberly “Garner” Durham; his wife Sonja Siretaro Garner; her children Joslin and Jim Moss, Jessica and Phillip Horton, and Jennifer and James McFerrin. We were all loved equally as his children.
He is also survived by his grandchildren Melissa Durham, Emily and Allison Moss, Cierra and Krista Horton, and Harper and Calvin McFerrin, as well as his great-grandchildren Kohlie and Jaxon Futral.
Jerry (Daddy) will be sorely missed in this world. He was a wonderful loving man and a wonderful father. May your soul fly on Gossamer wings, and safely take you on your next journey, and may you find that “One Particular Harbor” to sail to.We will see you again. “I love you daddy!”
