James Walter Petrie
James Walter Petrie of Tucker, Georgia died on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Northside Hospital.
He was born on April 29, 1939, in Jersey City, NJ, to Gerard Petrie and Leona Dembowski Petrie.
Jim graduated from St. Peter’s College, a Jesuit college in Jersey City. He worked for Western Electric
Company, later called AT&T, for his entire career. He married Beverly Powell from Augusta in 1967, and
they were happily married for 31 years until her death in 1998. He was a parishioner of Holy Cross
Catholic Church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his daughters and sons-
in-law, Karen & SFC Scot Woolf of Marietta and Katy & Michael Murray of Juno Beach, FL,
grandchildren, Brittany, Nathan & Rachael Woolf, and Peyton Murray, and stepgrandchildren, Megan &
Linda Murray, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and sister, Geraldine Morgan.
His body was cremated. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on
Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at 11am, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3175 Hathaway Ct, Chamblee, GA 30341. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral at 10am. Burial will be in Augusta.

I will always remember him sitting in his favorite chair on the front porch and telling stories and giving great advice. He was a very smart man and he loved his children and grandchildren. I wish I had known him better. We will all miss him.
