James Ralph Satterfield, 81, of Marietta, Georgia, died February 10, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Son of Kathryne West Satterfield and Grey Wilson Satterfield, he was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 18, 1936. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE). He excelled in management and sales positions with IBM until his retirement in 1993. An accomplished golfer, he became a Handicap Champion at The Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed playing Bridge in retirement and attained Sapphire Life Master/Masterpoint Leader status in the Duplicate Bridge Association of Atlanta. He loved world travel, solving math puzzles, competitive sports, British television, BBQ, and his family and friends. Called “Jim” by all who knew him, he was a gentleman and will be remembered for his quick mind, competitive spirit, strong sense of respectful fair play, and optimistic outlook. He was well loved and is greatly missed.

Survived by his wife of forty-five years, Lillian Overlees Satterfield; his brother Grey Wilson Satterfield of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his children James Ralph Satterfield, Jr. and wife Gloria of Pueblo, Colorado; Lee Satterfield Hamre and husband Austin of Lafayette and Denver, Colorado; Mary Vaughan Hibbard and husband Steve of Tiburon, California; and Robert Lamar Vaughan of Marietta, Georgia; his grandchildren Elsie and Daniel Satterfield, William and John Hibbard, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at Memorial Park Cemetery and a reception will take place in Marietta, Georgia. Gifts honoring his memory may be made to The Foundation Fighting Blindness, your local PBS station, or a charity of your choice.
