James Jim E. Comerford:

On July 12, 2015, James Jim E. Comerford passed peacefully at home in Atlanta, GA. Born April 18, 1963 in Queens, NY raised in to Greenwich, CT

He was predeceased by his father Thomas M. Comerford. Jim is survived by his partner of 25 years, Ed Belding, his mother Dolores Comerford of Murrells Inlet, SC, his five siblings and their spouses: Tom & Betteanne, Diane & Mike McCormack, Kathy & Bob Jaeger, John & Michele, Jane & Joe Gaffigan. Also his many nieces and nephews, a grand nephew and niece and Ed’s sister Patty Monteith.

Jim started his working career in advertising as a media planner went on to have a successful career in television advertising sales. After leaving the advertising business, he worked in support of his partner’s business with The Belding Group, Inc.

However, what was most important to Jim was his family, friends and the community around him. He was always an active volunteer in his community everywhere he lived. A volunteer firefighter with the Round Hill VFC then Amogerone VFC #1, Greenwich, CT. He was an active member of his neighborhood association.

Jim waged a brave battle with lung cancer for two years while having known he was terminal. He spent much of that time visiting and receiving family and friends from all parts of his life. Jim had many long lasting friendships from St. Mary’s High School and Niagara University, many of them lasting 30 even 40 years.

He specifically asked that in his obituary it tells people not to smoke and if you do to please stop immediately, as this was the major factor in his lung cancer.

There will be a celebration of his life at Trinity Anglican Mission @ 2270 Defoor Hills Road, NW. Atlanta, GA 30318 on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 6:00 PM. A memorial celebration will be held in the Spring of 2016 in Connecticut.

In lieu of flowers, he asked that donations to go to the Friends of Howell Station Inc, 1227 Niles Ave, Atlanta, GA 30318. In the spirit of Jim’s life, donations will be used to help complete a project that was near and dear to his heart, the rebuilding of the community center in Knight Park for the uses by the residence of Howell Station and all Atlanta.
