James “Jim” DeForest Styles, Jr., 77, of Cumming, Ga., died Feb. 25, 2018. He was born March 10, 1940, in Trion, Ga., to the late James “Frosty” DeForest Styles, Sr., and Esther (Cline) Styles. He grew up in Trion along with his sisters Sherry and Phyllis (deceased). Jim graduated from Trion High School in 1958, where he played varsity football. He was a co-captain his senior year when the team won the 1957 Class B State Championship.

Jim attended the University of Chattanooga, where he accepted a football scholarship. After that, he served in the Army for four years. Jim spent most of his career working for Equifax, where he eventually was promoted to a regional vice president.

He met his wife Margaret “Micki” Quinn in Milwaukee, Wis., on Memorial Day in 1962. They wed 16 months later and were married until Micki’s death 48 years later. Jim is survived by: his three children Jay (Tracey), Hunter (Patti) and Paige; four grandchildren (Jackie, Jake, Connor and Reese), one great grandchild (Ariah), sister Sherry (Bob) Jenkins of Waukon, Iowa, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Requiem Mass is scheduled Sat., March 3, at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Brigid Catholic Church in Johns Creek, Ga. An on-site reception will follow. Catholic Masses in his honor are welcome in lieu of flowers.
