James Carroll Williams
Jim” Williams died peacefully at his home in Canton, GA on November 15, 2011.
Jim was born at home in Atlanta in the Cabbagetown area on November 3, 1934
and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1953. He attended Wofford College on a football scholarship and later finished college at Georgia State University. He had his own commercial interiors company for many years and retired three times: He later worked at Reinhardt University as V.P. Plant Operations for about ten years and after retiring from there was a Flight Attendant for AirTran Airways. Jim was a natural
athlete and excelled at football, baseball, basketball, golf, snow skiing, snow mobiling,
white water kayaking and canoeing, big game and, later – bird hunting. He loved to travel and experience other cultures. He and his wife, Holly, toured all of North America and Alaska in their R.V. He was a Marine and an elder in the Presbyterian Church. He was a kind and gentle man in the truest southern tradition. He was predeceased by his parents: Jay and Tina Williams and his brother, Dwight. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Holly; his son, Kelly wife:Shelley; daughters: Theresa and Nicole; stepson, Joe Pittman, Jr wife: Marni; sister, Wilma Adams; nephew: Alan Adams; two nieces and five grandchildren. The memorial service will be at the Waleska United Methodist Church, Waleska, GA on the campus of Reinhardt University on Saturday, November 19 at 3 o’clock. Jim was a faithful and longtime member of the Lake Arrowhead Volunteer Fire Department. He made many other significant contributions to the life of the community before moving to Canton several years ago. He will be remembered as a positive influence in the lives of neighbors and friends. His sense of humor added to every encounter. He will be missed.

Jim was such a nice man-a true gentleman. We will miss hearing about his adventures. He always had a smile and a kind word, especially when talking about Holly. Our thoughts are with you all.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Jim’s family. I was fortunate enough to know and work with Jim and AirTran Airways. He was always a very kind and most respected gentleman.
