Harvey L. Stowe, CLU, ChFC, president and CEO of Stowe Associates, passed away on February 13 following a brief illness. He was 79.
Mr. Stowe founded Stowe Associates in 1963. The company specializes in employee benefit solutions, wellness programs, and HR compliance.
Mr. Stowe held the professional designations of Chartered Life Underwriter CLU, and Chartered Financial Consultant ChFC, from the American College. He was a member of the Society of Financial Professionals, and the National Association of Health Underwriters.
A native of Toccoa, GA, he graduated from Toccoa High School in 1948 at age 16. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia with a BA Degree in Business . He was a member of the Chi Psi Fraternity. He lettered while on the UGA swim team in 1952.
He was in the U. S. Army from 1953 to 1955, and served in Panama.
Mr. Stowe loved his family, his friends, and his work. He always put others first, will be remembered most for his enormous acts of kindness, compassion, generosity, honesty and integrity. He was an animal lover. Among his greatest joys were his pets and the support and rescue of other animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Epps Stowe and Neta Reynolds Stowe and is survived by his wife, Nonnie Coleman Stowe, his son, Harvey L. Bud Stowe, Jr., his daughter, Jennifer Stowe-Lacy, his son-in-law, Dr. Thomas E. Lacy, Jr., and grandchildren, Kyle Lacy, Ryan Lacy, and Kristen Lacy.
A memorial service will be held at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1722 Oak Grove Road, NE, Decatur, GA 30033 on Saturday, February 25, 2011, at 3:00 PM with visitation in the church parlor at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I am the daughter of J. W. Stowe, Harvey’s uncle. I saw Harvey at Daddy’s funeral almost three years ago. Harvey was loved by our family. Your family will be in our prayers.
