Dr. Harry J. Crider, Jr. died peacefully at age 93, on Sunday evening February 19, 2012 at Northside Hospital – Cherokee in Canton, Georgia. He was with his son and daughter-in-law at the time of his death. Born October 2, 1918, he was a 5th generation native Atlantan. He graduated from North Fulton High School and obtained his bachelor’s degree from Emory University.

He served in the US Army from just before the beginning of hostilities of World War II until after VJ Day, crossing the Pacific with the Allied Expeditionary Force.

After the war, he married Catherine Williams of Meridian, MS and then graduated from the Medical College of Georgia. He practiced OB/GYN medicine and surgery for 55 years, pioneering several new advancements in surgical and diagnostic procedures during that time.

He was loved and admired by many and will always be remembered for his unique wit and intelligence. He is survived by his son Claude, daughter-in-law Melinda, grandson Shae and granddaughter Lindsay and their respective families.
