George William Peters
George W. Bill Peters, age 76, of Atlanta, GA died Sunday, September 5, 2010. Known as “The Bear,” he played high school football in Decatur, GA and Kirkwood, MO. After serving as president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at Washington University in St. Louis, Bill joined his father “Pete” Peters as manufacturers’ agents for the food service equipment industry, and Bill’s brother Jim Peters soon followed into the family business. Over the years, Bill became a highly respected sales representative and national industry leader, and Peters & Peters remains in operation under third generation management after more than 50 years. Bill was a member of the Atlanta Athletic Club and a longtime Atlanta Falcons fan. He leaves behind his wife, Ann; daughters, Meredith Peters and Jennifer Peters, both of Atlanta, and Alison Andrews Ron of Athens, GA; and granddaughter, Caitlin Andrews of Athens as well as his sister, Jean Brody Gene of Winchester, KY; his brother, Jim Peters Vicki of Jensen Beach, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Jean, I don’t know if you even will remember me but I was in Bill’s class at Clairemont. All of the girls had a crush on Billy and used to come to your house on the pretence of wanting you to teach us to dance.I was paired up with Billy when we went in groups to the movies etc. Had really lost touch through the years but was sorry to read of his death in the AJC. My sympathy to all of your family.
