George Andrew Turner, beloved son, brother, cousin, godfather and friend, passed peacefully on June 28, 2021 at his home in Atlanta, GA at the age of 34.

Andrew will be remembered for his kind soul, his love for his family, his intelligence, and his quirky sense of humor. He was a life-long music lover and enjoyed teaching himself how to play the guitar, drums, mandolin, keyboard, and saxophone. He also served a special role in his family, who lovingly referred to him as the grammar police, and was known for his inclination for starting friendly political debates. Andrew was an avid reader and enthusiastic history buff.

Andrew spent most of his childhood growing up in Greenville, SC and graduated from Christ Church Episcopal School. Since he was a die-hard Georgia Bulldog his entire life, there was only one option when he chose a university. He graduated from UGA with a Bachelor of Science degree in History before completing a Juris Doctor from UGA School of Law. During undergrad, he studied Italian to prepare for a summer abroad in Italy. He was a second-generation member of Pi Kappa Phi – Lambda Chapter. He valued his relationships with his Pi Kapp brothers especially his many Pi Kapp “uncles”. He was most recently a practicing real estate attorney, but his real passion was found in tutoring youth and aspiring law students.

Andrew had a heart for service. Growing up, he participated in several mission trips to West Virginia, Jamaica, and Mexico through his church’s youth group. In his adult life, he traveled to Guatemala several summers through the Porch de Salomon organization to build homes and provide humanitarian relief for indigenous communities. He had a passion for helping with KPMG’s Family for Literacy organization, which works to eradicate childhood illiteracy by putting new books and educational resources into the hands of children in need.

He is survived by his parents, Mary Catherine “Sunny” and Chris Turner; his siblings, Elizabeth Turner Riley (Troy) and Rion Turner (Grace Ivey); his grandmother, Elizabeth Brittain Lamoureux, and grandparents, Elizabeth Edenfield and George Gilbert Turner; his aunts Brittain Lamoureux (Jess Robbins), Mary Beth Port, Jennifer Lancaster (Chuck), Melissa Tyson (Clint) and Anne Koon (Phil); uncle Lucien F. Lamoureux III; cousins Emee Port, Lucy Robbins, Ellery Robbins, Savannah Lancaster, Kenzie Lancaster, Collin Koon and Erin Koon; honorary brother, Lane McCracken (Summer), and godchild Aidan McCracken. He is predeceased by his grandfather, Lucien F. Lamoureux, Jr., and his grandparents, Ronald Edwin and Linda K. Sapp.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 24 at 2 p.m. at the University of Georgia chapel, 109 Herty Dr, Athens, GA 30602, followed by a reception. Red and black attire is requested.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Porch de Salomon online at or by check to P.O. Box 10509 Tallahassee, FL 32302-2509. With these funds, Andrew’s family plans to build a home for a Guatemalan family in need in his honor.
