Florence Bowles Carter, 74, of Atlanta died Sunday, February 12, 2012. She was born in Macon, Georgia and raised in Waynesville, North Carolina. A graduate of Emory University, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert L. Carter. Florence was active in her church, the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta, where she served on the wedding and altar guilds for over twenty years and twice chaired the wedding guild. Florence also volunteered in the Cathedral bookstore. Florence is survived by her son, Kenan Loomis Lisa, daughter Laura Sherman George and son Graham Loomis Kathy, as well as five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Cathedral of St. Philip at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 17, 2012. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made on Florence’s behalf to Visiting Nurses/Hospice Atlanta, 404-215-6000, www.vnhs.org.

    We the WTHS Class of 1956 in Waynesville. N.C. are sending our love and prayers for Florence Anns Family. Time passes so fast. Florence was such a beautiful person. I believe she came to our 45th. class reunion . everyone was so pleased to see her and she was still the sweet and kind person we all remembered. We will continue to remember all of you and pray for comfort. mn
