Ernest 'Bob' Mobley Eberhardt Jr.

LTC Ernest Mobley “Bob” Eberhardt, Jr., aged 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of July 22, 2012 at his residence in Atlanta.
Born August 30, 1927 in Hall County, Bob attended North Georgia College in Dahlonega, where he met his future wife Robbie Jean Westbrook. They were married on Christmas Eve 1950.
A career military officer, Bob devoted 30 years of service to the US Army, during which time he traveled the world – serving in Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, and most memorably three tours of duty in Germany.
Upon his retirement, he returned to his native Georgia and settled in Marietta, where he and Robbie made their home for over 20 years. Bob was a devoted husband, caring for Robbie throughout her 15 yearlong struggle with cancer, until her death in 2004.
Never one to sit idle, Bob found time in his retirement to pursue his many and varied interests. He particularly enjoyed sharing his love of sports, carpentry, politics, investing, and cooking with his grandchildren.
In his final years, Bob was cared for by the staff at Sunrise at Buckhead, Home Instead, Hospice Atlanta, and his trusted friend and caregiver, Diriba Kitessa.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Robbie Westbrook Eberhardt and his parents Ernest Mobley Eberhardt, Sr. and Blanche Hoopaugh Eberhardt.
He is survived by countless friends and family, including daughters Andrea Zimmer Eugene, deceased of Atlanta, Patti Davis Les of Palm Coast, Florida, Beth Ward Terry of Atlanta; grandchildren Jeff Davis Kari of Denver, Charles Zimmer of Atlanta, Hunter Davis Cailin of Chicago, Shelby Zimmer, Cooper Ward, and Cecilia Ward of Atlanta; great grandsons Gavin Davis and Chase Davis; sister Annah Jo Bunch Leo, deceased of Newport News, Virginia, brother Glynn Eberhardt Janis of Columbus, Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
