MARY EDITH TIPPINS MASTERS
Mary Edith Tippins Masters Edith, of Bishop, GA, and formerly of Lexington, SC, died peacefully Thursday, January 12, 2017. Mrs. Masters was born March 23, 1925, in Baxley, GA, the daughter of Charles Banks Tippins, Sr. and Thelma Little Tippins. She graduated from Reidsville High School and earned her secretarial degree from Draughon’s Business College. She was a homemaker until her children were grown. Thereafter, she was employed for 30 years with Bank of America, from which she retired. Mrs. Masters was an active member of Lexington United Methodist Church, was a former President of the Fellowship Sunday School Class, and was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority and the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the VFW.
Mrs. Masters is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, George William Masters, Sr.; and brothers Charles Tippins, Jr., Glenn Tippins, and Harold Tippins. She is survived by her sister, Louise Tippins Dicey of Greenville, SC; two sons and their wives, Bill Masters, Jr. Blynn of Alpharetta, GA, and Art Masters Ramona of Watkinsville, GA; and three grand-children, Steely Masters of Columbia, SC, Hadley Masters of Alpharetta, GA, and Wil Masters of Watkinsville, GA.
A memorial service will be held at Lexington United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 4 at 2 pm; visitation to follow at the church.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Lexington United Methodist Church.
