Dianne Davies Newell, 77, passed away December 20, 2015 following extended illness. She is predeceased by her husband Eldridge L. Eddie Newell, father G.L.Davies, Sr., mother Eloise F. Davies, and brother Gil Davies. She is survived by her daughter Mary Jane Newell Streets George, sons John D. Newell Kathaline, Paul W. Newell Lisa, sister Linda Davies Brill, brothers Mark Davies Susan, Rev. Steven Davies Beverly, and Thomas Davies Janet, seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church and retired from Northeast Georgia Medical Center. The family wishes to express our gratitude to employees and staff in the medical community, Habersham Retreat Assisted Living, Oaks-Limestone Nursing Home and Pruitt Hospice for their dedicated service to our beloved. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 9, 2016 at Maranatha Baptist Church, 5135 McEver Road, Oakwood, Georgia 30566, with Rev. Rod Bell, Jr. and Rev. Steven Davies officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Newell to Maranatha Baptist Church, PO Box 877, Oakwood, Georgia 30566.

    Bill & I have known the Davies family for many years. G. L. and Bill served in the Gideons together and loved each other dearly. We have a worship service at The Oaks at Limestone every Sunday. Dianne was one of our most faithful to attend. If you mentioned her Dad or Mom, she was all smiles. We loved her very much for many years. We will miss her and were so sad when we went to give her a Christmas card Thursday and she had gone to be with her loved ones in heaven – sad for us but glad for her. She spends Christmas with Jesus from now on.
