Mrs. Deane Richardson Jones of Marietta, Georgia, wife of the late Robert Claggett Jones of Lynchburg, VA,  passed away peacefully on July 16th at the home of her daughter and her daughter’s family in Marietta, where she had been residing for the last year and a half.  Mrs. Jones, daughter of the late Horace J. “Buck” Richardson and Ellen Dean Richardson, was born October 27, 1930 in Bowersville, GA , and was raised in Charlotte, NC, graduating from Central High School in 1948. She went on to earn  a Spanish degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1952, where  she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and the YWCA.  Mrs. Jones taught Spanish at George Washington High School in Danville, VA, where she would meet her husband, Bob, at the boarding house where Deane lived and Bob took meals.  Mr. and Mrs. Jones married in 1957, and lived in Danville until 1959 when Milliken Textiles took them briefly to Abbeville, SC, on to Spartanburg, SC in 1960, and relocated them again to LaGrange, GA in 1973. Mrs. Jones continued to be a very active member of the Presbyterian Church, serving on and involved with  various church committees and organizations, including Presbyterian Women,  Women’s Bible Study, and Meals on Wheels. Mr. and Mrs. Jones moved to the Atlanta area in 2010 to be nearer to their children.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her sister, Anne Richardson Sellers of Matthews, NC; her daughter and son-in-law, Ellen Deane Jones Brans and Gordon Laird Brans, of Marietta, GA; her son and daughter-in-law Thomas Claggett Jones II and Farley Jones of Winterville, GA; and three grandchildren, Abigail Deane Brans, Robert Dalton Brans, and Natalie Marie Brans.  A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange, date to be determined.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange, GA, or to the charity of your choice.

Our heavenly Father promises a time when not only will death be wiped away but those who have already fallen asleep in death will be woken up!
