Dana Stanton Parker

Dana Stanton Parker, 88, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2023.
He was born in Chicago on August 23, 1934 to Maxwell and Bessie (Seegmiller) Parker. Dana was raised in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago and attended North Park Academy
before graduating from Northwestern University with a degree in Journalism. While working at the Tony Companies in Chicago, he met his future wife, Ruth Ellen Watkins, whom he married on May 25, 1963. They welcomed their first daughter, Julie, in August 1964. Daughters Corrinne (C.C.) and Cynthia (Cindy) quickly followed. A number of cats, dogs and other pets rounded out the family.
Dana was a master of the English language and worked in advertising for more than 30 years. His clients included the Quaker Oats Company, Burger King, and Wendy’s.
After living in Chicago their entire lives, Dana and Ruth retired to the Atlanta area in 2005, relishing the warmer weather and absence of shoveling snow. Dana and Ruth enjoyed a marriage of nearly 60 years. Together they relished reading, family vacations and gatherings, attending church and playing duplicate bridge. Dana could also be found solving crossword puzzles and cheering on the Chicago Cubs. He often used his wordsmithing talents to create poetry for special occasions.
In addition to Ruth, Dana is survived by his three children, Julie Ellen Pederson (Scott), Corrinne Cummings Morris (Dan), and Cynthia Stanton Mills (Eric); four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Allison Phoebe Mills.
Dana will be remembered in a private family gathering.
