Christopher John Messina
Christopher Messina, a long time resident of Jonesboro, Georgia, died on March 22, 2018 at the Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, Georgia. He was 65 years old. Chris was born on February 9, 1953, in Belleville, IL at Scott Air Force Base and had lived in England, California and on the Gulf Coast of Florida and Mississippi. He graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, Florida in 1971 and then served his country in the United States Navy. He located to the Atlanta area in the early 1970s where he resided until his death. He was a talented musician and writer and had played in such venues as the Stone Pony in the Marietta, GA area.
He was preceded in death by his biological father, John Messina; his parents, Augusta Messina and Eugene Hinnenkamp and his niece Jody Lee Colrud of Florida. He was the second of four children. He is survived by his Uncle Charles Messina of Chamblee, Georgia, his Aunt Carol Messina of Blue Ridge, Georgia; his sister Catherine Gervasi of Florida; his brother Michael Messina of California; and his youngest sister, Nancy Messina of Virginia. He is also survived by nieces Melissa Dudley and Angelina Gervasi of Florida, Katy Gagnon of New York; Kelly Messina of Georgia, Arden Spurlin of New Jersey and nephew Davis Spurlin of Virginia.
Chris was a much-loved son, brother and uncle and was best known as a generous and loyal friend, and a vivacious spirit always full of life and energy. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Yes, he will be missed.. Will always love him and his family. He was a wonderful lover of dogs his heart was big and good. Loved to listen to him play see him smile and hear his loving ways. Always in my prayers and be prayer sheets though out the parishes in my county may he play the key board for Jesus.🙏❤️
