Charles Whitten King

Charles Whitten King, age 82, of Atlanta, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2015. He was born on March 24, 1933 in Memphis, Tennessee to Andrew Whitten King and Beulah Lax King.
He attended the University of Mississippi and served in the Army before marrying his wife of 61 years, Betsy Fondren King of Greenville, Mississippi. Together they raised 4 children in Memphis before moving to Atlanta in 1972, where he worked as an investment banker with American Municipal Securities until his retirement in 2010. He was the kindest, sweetest and best father, husband and friend to all who dearly loved him. He will be deeply missed everyday by his surviving wife and all his children, Ada Marcia King, Catherine Jane KingMallen, Charles Whitten King Jr., BetsyAnne Fondren King, his grandchildren, Stephanie Laura Mallen, Jonathan Edward Mallen and his wife Amy Hallemann Mallen, Amanda Kate Mallen, Matthew James Mallen, Alexandra Fondren King, Charles Whitten King III, and his brother Phillip R. King of Bartlett, Tennessee. Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Weinstein Hospice.
