Charles Samuel Carson
Charles Samuel Carson Jr., 65, of Hapeville, Georgia, lost his long battle with cancer on November 30, 2013. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Rita Rivard- Carson, his daughter Amanda Carson Harley and her husband, Bryan, of Suwanee, GA, and his step-sons Geven Aston and wife Ruth, of Cumming, GA, and Mark Harris Jr., of Hutchinson, KS. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Sarah Johnston Carson and his brother James Larry Carson.
Charles was a locksmith in and around the Atlanta area for 25 years. He did so many good things for many people. Charles had an annual tradition of taking truck loads of toys he had bought through-out the entire year to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding, specifically for the children suffering from cancer. He knew how cancer affected his life so greatly and wanted to bring some joy into the lives of the children. Even though in frail health and knowing he didn’t have much time left, this year he managed to finish that feat in early November, personally hand delivering the toys so the children would have a good Christmas. He had a passion to feed the hungry and help the needy through his generosity to Friendship Church in Newnan, Georgia.
As an Air Force veteran, Charles was a patriot and loved America, proudly standing with his cap over his heart at the Atlanta Braves baseball games, “kindly” reprimanding those that forgot to do so. And oh, how he loved the Braves! He was their #1 fan! He will be surely missed in the seats at next season’s games.
There is a huge void in our lives because Charles is gone; and an even bigger one for the love of your life, your Rita girl, your Lady in Red.
Memorial Services for Charles Carson Jr. will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Tri-Cities Church, 2619 Ben Hill Rd., East Point, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, Charles had requested that a new unwrapped toy be either brought or sent to the church at P.O. Box 82855, Atlanta, GA 30354. These toys will be donated to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding for Charles’ “Toys for Cancer” event. Please also remember that his family and friends would like to keep this 7 year tradition going on in Charles’ memory for many years to come.
