Carolyn Daftary Torralba
Carolyn D. (Claxton) Torralba, 85 years old, passed away peacefully at home on June 13, 2021 of heart failure. Born in Beirut , Lebanon, her early education was in Iran before coming to the U.S at age 16. She then attended college at Freed-Hardeman and Vanderbilt University before graduating from Murray State University.
She is survived by her 4 daughters, Cathy Elmore (Jim), Daphne Renaud (Terry), Stephanie Evans (Rusty) and Jennifer Price (Del); 4 grandchildren Tess Vestal (Katie), Lauren Renaud, Will Elmore (Mandy), and Cameron Renaud; and 2 great-grandchildren, Maddie, and Liam. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Torralba.
Mrs. Torralba lived most of her life in the Louisville area and was a lifelong educator retiring from Jefferson County Traditional Middle School in 2000 after serving 11 years as Assistant Principal. Prior to that she enjoyed a long teaching career at the Brown School, Westport Middle School, Male High School, and Southern High School.
In retirement, Carolyn enjoyed many pursuits, volunteering at the KY Center for the Arts, the Palace Theater, and as a CASA Child Advocate. She had a passion for her family, music, jazzercise, reading, travel, and French culture.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life, open to all friends and family, will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 3-5pm at Belknap Event Center, 12414 W. Hwy 42, Prospect, KY 40059.
