Carol Howard Bedsole
Carol Brent Bedsole passed away August 14, 2011 after an extended illness. She was 73 years old. She is survived by her children Cathy Bedsole of Charleston, SC, Peter and Stacy Bedsole of Chamblee, GA and Terry Ann Bedsole of Stone Mountain, GA, as well as by her grandchildren Christine Patterson, Jacob Bedsole and Sarah Bedsole.
Carol was born November 4, 1937 in Atlanta, GA to Louise and Howard Brent. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, located in San Antonio, TX in 1955 and earned a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Baylor University in 1959.
Carol was an active member at North Decatur Presbyterian Church serving as an elder and on the worship council there for several years. She was a leader in the church’s community outreach programs and a tireless supporter of the lost and forgotten.
An avid duplicate bridge player, Carol achieved Life master in January 1993. Her love of the game and enthusiasm made her a natural teacher and is credited with helping many other players achieve their life master status as well.
Carol moved to Key Largo, FL in 1993 where she was an active member of the Coral Isles Church and the Key Largo Duplicate Bridge Club.
She later made her home in Charleston, SC in 2004, where she taught duplicate bridge at the Charleston Bridge Club and welcomed dozens of new players to the game.
Carol brought love and laughter to all who knew her. Her sweet Christian spirit lives on in her family and multitude of friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 27 at North Decatur Presbyterian Church at 11a.m. with a reception to follow. A receiving of friends will be held Friday, August 26 at 7p.m. at North Decatur. The family requests donations be made to the Georgia Kidney Foundation in lieu of flowers.
